SUNDAY, MAY 26, 2024 – SUMMER OPENER RIDE
Hi everyone – It’s Memorial Day weekend! Let’s celebrate the start of Summer with a Sunday bike ride to The Inside Scoop in Coopersburg. This ride is family-friendly, and open to everyone.
You have two options for joining us: start in Bethlehem for a round trip of about 24 miles, or start in Hellertown for a round trip of 14 miles. The shorter route is entirely on off-road trails, and the longer one is a mix of mostly off-road trails and some roads.
In Bethlehem, we’ll start at the Bethlehem Area Public Library/Payroll Plaza/City Hall (N. New and Church Streets); in Hellertown, we’ll meet at the Saucon Trail in Water Street Park. We’ll start gathering in Bethlehem around 9:30 am. with a ride start time of 10 a.m. (come closer to 9:30 if you need to make any minor adjustments to your bike, like airing up your tires, adjusting your seat, etc.) and we’ll likely leave Water Street Park in Hellertown at 10:30 a.m..
All are welcome on this ride. Don’t let any worries about keeping up with the group stop you from joining us. We will go at whatever pace is comfortable for the slowest among us – no one will get left behind. The route is appropriate for most types of bikes; though the pebbly surface of the southside greenway east of the skatepark can be a little mushy, it’s no big deal if you prefer to walk that relatively short section.
Sunday is looking like it will be a hot and steamy day, so please bring adequate water and sun protection. All riders must wear a helmet.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we kick off the Summer season in proper style!
