Hi everyone, the weather looks great for a ride this Saturday, September 24, 2022. We’ll meet at 10 a.m. at the CAT office, 1935 W. Broad Street in Bethlehem, and ride to Soumaya & Sons Bakery on Fullerton Avenue in Whitehall, where we’ll stock up on fresh pita and a host of treats including hummus, baba ganoush, lebne, stuffed grape leaves, and more. From there we’ll go on a few miles to Jordan Park in Allentown, where we can enjoy our repast. (If people want to return to CAT from Soumaya, we can probably send a separate party back from there.)
The entire ride is about 10 miles, on mostly quiet, relatively flat streets, with a short stint on the busier Fullerton Avenue after we cross the river on the Tilghman Street Bridge, and some well maintained trails to and in Jordan Park. All styles of bikes will work for this ride, from skinny tired road bikes to fat tires. Ride leaders will be equipped to help you carry anything. This ride is appropriate for cyclists of all ages, as long as you can do 10 miles at a slow/moderate pace. As with all CAT group rides, we’ll go no faster than the slowest among us. If you dislike riding in urban settings, this is a great ride for you, as we’ll be in a group, highly visible, and practicing and demonstrating all our skills of safe cycling in traffic.
Bring a helmet and some water. If you need to air up your tires, lube your chain, or do any other minor maintenance, come to the CAT office a little early. We’ll be there by 9:30 a.m. to assist anyone who wants help.
If you need more information, please contact annef@lvcat.org.
(This ride is funded in part by a grant from Lehigh Valley Greenways.)
