SHORT VERSION:  Ride Saturday May 27, starting 9 a.m. from CAT office, 1935 W. Broad Street, Bethlehem to Nazareth and back, mostly quiet back roads, some hills, total mileage @ 25 miles, relaxed pace. 

Hey everyone – Memorial Day Weekend is upon us, the irises and mayapples are blooming, and we’re facing some great weather. What do you say we get together Saturday morning for a bicycle jaunt to one of our favorite bakeries, in Nazareth?

We’ll leave the CAT office (1935 W. Broad Street, Bethlehem) at 9 a.m.; we’ll start gathering there at 8:30 a.m. in the event you need to air up your tires, lube your chain or do any other minor maintenance. The route is mostly quiet roads with hills typical of Pennsylvania — though we promise that whenever we go up, we will come down on the other side. The total mileage will be about 25 miles. If we don’t dawdle too much at the bakery, we should be home by around noon.

This ride is appropriate for anyone of any age who can go the distance. Keep in mind that our pace is typically that of the slowest among us. Our bakery rides are about finding a relaxed pace and enjoying the company of other riders.

We will be sticking to the roads, but even if you’re not typically a roadie, don’t let that dissuade you… we’ll travel quiet back roads, practice safe cycling, and as we’ll be in a group, we will be extremely visible to drivers. If you’re a little nervous about cycling the roads, this is a good way to expand your riding skills and confidence, giving you access to the lovely countryside surrounding our cities.

Note that ride leaders will have space in panniers for carrying any extra stuff you may want, like an extra pastry to power you through the ride home, or a spare jacket.
