SUNDAY JUNE 23, ROUND TRIP RIDE FROM CEMENTON TO WEISSPORT
Hey everyone, we’re going to ride this Sunday from the Cementon D&L Trailhead to Weissport, and back, a round trip of about 38 miles on the mostly level and shady D&L trail. We’ll stop at our turn around for a refreshing foray at a gem of a coffee shop near the bridge in Weissport, where you can get cold or hot beverages and some good food.
We will leave from the Cementon trailhead at 8 a.m., so as to stay a little ahead of the heat. Nonetheless, you should bring plenty of water, as the forecast is for relatively high temps. If you are driving to the trailhead, you may be able to park at Cementon (look here), or a short distance away, across the river at Canal Park in Northampton (look here). Please remember to bring a spare tube that fits your tires. As this is a CAT ride, all riders must wear a helmet.
The trail in this section is mostly unpaved, but is fairly well maintained. Most any bike will do, though you will likely be more comfortable on a tire wider than your super sporty road bike. We will travel at whatever speed is comfortable for participating riders. No one will be dropped. This ride is a great way to usher in Summer and appreciate the beauty of where we live! (And maybe we’ll see another turtle, like the one pictured above, crossing the trail a little south of Slatington last Friday.) We hope you can come along.
If you need more information, please feel free to contact annef@lvcat.org. Any last minute changes due to weather will be posted as an update to this announcement.
