Clearances
Instructors/Staff should renew the following background checks every five years. CAT members participating in rides and at the CAT Bicycle Cooperative do not need background checks. Volunteers should complete background checks after their third time volunteering.
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (choose “new record check”, free if choosing “volunteer”)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (if you don’t already have a Keystone ID, choose “create individual login”. Fee waived once every five years)
- FBI Criminal Background Check ($22, CAT will reimburse) – Enter Service Code “1KG6ZJ”. Then click on the link to “schedule or manage an appointment”, then go to Allentown or Hellertown IdentoGO locations. Allentown location is 1.5 miles west of CAT Office on Hanover Avenue.
If you are an active instructor, volunteer, or ride leader, CAT will reimburse you for the cost of background checks. When you have received the above clearances (first two are almost instant if you do online), email with receipt to cat@lvcat.org (preferred) or bring to CAT office for reimbursement.
