About this Opportunity

The timing of this opportunity comes with CAT experiencing a surge in participation and community connections, necessitating that we bring on a new staff member who can be versatile with functions from administrative to program planning to program participation at in-house and off-site events around the Lehigh Valley.

Position Description

  • Title: Bike Program Coordinator
  • Reports to: Executive Director
  • Location: Bethlehem, PA – onsite at the CAT Bicycle Cooperative and at various events around the community.
  • Employment Type: Full-time, in-person 60-70% of time, remote 30-40% of time.
  • Compensation: $37,000 per year (with benefits)

Specialty Skills

  • Bike maintenance and mechanics (training provided if needed)
  • Knowledge & practice of smart cycling principles (League of American Bicyclists and/or CyclingSavvy), League Certified Instructor (LCI) (League of American Bicyclists) (training provided if needed)
  • Experience with donor management databases and accounting tools. CAT uses DonorPerfect and Quickbooks. (training provided if needed)

Position Summary

The Bike Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the CAT Bicycle Cooperative by managing administrative tasks, facilitating communication, and maintaining organized records. The Bike Program Coordinator will also organize and attend off-site youth bicycle education events at local schools (grades K-12) and with community partners. in coordination with CAT Executive Director. This role is essential for the efficient functioning and growth of CAT’s community-focused mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist members, volunteers, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and other communications; route inquiries to the appropriate staff, volunteers, or board members.
  • Maintain digital and paper filing systems, including membership records, liability waivers, volunteer hours, and donation logs.
  • Assist in coordinating and scheduling meetings, events, workshops, and volunteer shifts.
  • Track inventory of office and shop supplies and order as necessary.
  • Help maintain social media platforms and newsletters.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and provide administrative support to staff.

Qualifications

  • Prior administrative or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, WordPress, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and other computer tools.
  • Multilingual skills are a bonus (especially Spanish).
  • Must pass State & Federal Background Checks
  • Ability to ride a bike

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a community-oriented, often fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for sustainable transportation and community engagement.

Working Environment

  • Office and CAT Bicycle Cooperative (mechanics workshop)
  • Evening and weekend hours for meetings and events (on and off-site)
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs.
