Bikes Available

Bikes and parts available below in support of CAT’s mission to educate for better bicycling, pedestrian access, public transit and local trails in the Lehigh Valley.

Suggested donation for bikes is a premium with annual CAT membership – enabling individuals and families to participate in programs at the CAT Bicycle Cooperative and supporting participation by those with financial hardship.

Bikes are being offered to individuals for use and not resale. CAT reserves the right to refuse to deal with anyone who seems in violation of this.

Your suggested donation for these items supports our programs and includes a one-year CAT membership which gives you access to all of our programs and helps others as well!

These items are offered as part of a semi-annual fundraiser to support CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation’s work for bicycling, walking, public transit, and trails in the Lehigh Valley.

These items are available at the CAT Bicycle Cooperative, 1935 West Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. To make an appointment, contact us in one of three ways:

  1. Call and leave a message at (610)954-5744.  We’ll call you back asap.
  2. Email us at cat@lvcat.org
  3. Message us at http://facebook.com/lvcat/

COVID-19 Note: To limit the spread of Coronavirus, this item is only available by appointment. When visiting us, please note that you will not be able to enter our facility, and will be required to wear a mask yourself. Our staff, wearing mask and gloves will greet you on the sidewalk near the blue bike rack. We will bring the bike outside to you. Bikes will be sprayed with disinfectant before and after use.

CAT is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. Your donations are tax-deductible only beyond the value of what is received. Your donation goes directly toward CAT’s programs, which include:

CAT Bicycle Cooperative
A do-it yourself workshop, where community members have use of bike tools and an on-duty instructor available to help. These services are offered without financial barriers, inviting cyclists who ride both by necessity and by choice, emphasizing use of bicycles for transportation, environment, fitness/health, and sport. We generally see the full-spectrum of cyclists, from parents with young children, neighborhood teenagers, and all types of adult cyclists who want to learn.

Members with financial means are encouraged to support local bike shops for parts & service, but to come to CAT when they want to learn hands-on skills.

Bike Smart Lehigh Valley
Bringing bicycling education to schools and youth groups, in partnership with local bike shops, police departments, and municipalities. CAT’s Bike Day events offer helmet fittings, bike safety checks, and a bike skills course to learn handling skills & rules of the road.

Holiday Bikes
Our focus during the November/December holidays. CAT volunteers refurbish children’s bicycles at no cost for parents with financial hardship to give to their children. In 2019, 50 bicycles were offered, with an average of four (4) hours invested in each bike to make it ride like a champ.

Lehigh Valley Bike to Work Week
A celebration of bicycling for transportation every May – whether to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution, or to simply enjoy the ride. CAT instructors offer route planning advice & support

Adopt-a-Bus Stop
Empowers LANta public transit riders to take pride in bus waiting areas and bus shelters, to pick up trash and cigarette butts. To make it shine- while earning a monthly unlimited bus pass.

YES Pedestrian
Encourages walking through ADA accessible sidewalks, enjoyable pedestrian environment such as street trees, murals/street art, and crosswalk lighting.

Promotes pedestrian experience with education about yield-to-pedestrian laws, traffic calming, i.e. speed reduction, and human-scale streetscapes.

CAT’s Adopt-a-Bus Stop program helps people earn a monthly bus pass when they volunteer to clean up litter.
